History of the Environmental Health Master's Study Program

The Environmental Health Master’s Study Program is one of the third master’s study programs in Indonesia and is the sixth master’s study program managed by the Faculty of Public Health, Hasanuddin University (Unhas). This study program was established in 2022 based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education at the Ministry of Education and Culture at that time (current Ministry of National Education) number 115/DIKTI/Kep/1999 dated March 5 1999, concerning the Establishment of a Master’s Program in Environmental Health in the Postgraduate Program in the Environment Hasanuddin University Makassar. This study program is at the Unhas Tamalanrea Campus Jl. Pioneers of Independence Km.10 Makassar. Since August 29 2022 based on Chancellor’s Decree No. 5685/UN4.1/KEP /2022- Concerning Permits to Open the Master of Environmental Health Study Program at Hasanuddin University, the Master of Environmental Health study program currently has Minimum Good Accreditation.

In accordance with the vision of Hasanuddin University and FKM Unhas which is based on the Indonesian Maritime Continent, the advantages and characteristics of the Unhas Environmental Health Master’s Study Program can be seen from scientific development that is adapted to regional and local characteristics of the eastern region of Indonesia by understanding diverse cultures and cross cultures. Study Program Environmental Health FKM Unhas will focus on scientific development based on coastal and island areas as their uniqueness and superiority. The Maritime Continent concept views the archipelago region and the Indonesian nation which has various tribes, ethnicities, cultures, religions and groups as one unit. This means that environmental health studies which aim to solve environmental health problems and develop community health in coastal and island areas will be the focus of the FKM Unhas Public Health Study Program in the future.
